Seven years of hands-on marketing for a trust-based local service business.

Overview

Inside Out Home Inspector was a family-owned home inspection business in Maryland. From January 2017 to September 2024 I was its marketing consultant, responsible for branding, social media, marketing strategy, and promotional support. The business has since closed.

Challenge

A home inspector sells trust. Buyers and sellers are in the middle of the largest purchase of their lives, often on a deadline, and they need to believe that the person walking through the house will tell them the truth. In a competitive local market, the marketing had to earn that trust before the first phone call, and it had to keep earning it with the agents who make most of the referrals.

My role

I owned the brand, the messaging, the content, the social media channels, and the promotional initiatives. Over seven years that meant setting the direction and also doing the work: writing, posting, designing, and showing up consistently.

Approach

I built the brand around plain, confident explanation of what an inspection covers and why it matters, the same translation work I’ve done in every other role. Social media and outreach focused on being useful to homeowners and agents rather than loud, and promotional efforts stayed consistent over years rather than arriving in bursts.

Outcome

A recognizable local brand with a consistent voice, maintained across every channel for seven years. The engagement is my longest-running example of owning a small business’s marketing end to end, from strategy through execution.
